Omoigui-Okauru Tasks Nigerian on Nation Building.

Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). Mrs Ifueko Omoigui-Okauru, has said unless Nigerians realize their greatness and worth, the gap between the country and the rest of the world would continue to get wider.

Omoigui-Okauru, who made this remark at the launch of Ajesola Solarin Majekodunmi Foundation (ASMAF) in Lagos stressed the need for Nigerians to stand for what is right and collectively build a good society.

She bemoaned a situation where Nigerians do not believe that they have to work hard to be promoted on merit. ?Go to a recruitment unit in the service, you will see the level of desperation we don?t believe that the system is there for us. People want to be promoted without having to work for it: she lamented.

The FIRS chair, who was the guest speaker at the event, described the country as a great nation with rich culture and human resources, saying there is need for us to remind our-selves of what it takes to build a good society, how to develop the country rather than think of traveling abroad.

She noted that the problem with the leadership of the country was that its leaders were abusing the kindness of the people, saying there has to be fairness, justice and equity.
