AJESOLA SOLARIN MAJEKODUNMI FOUNDATION (ASMAF) is a non-profit non-governmental organization founded and duly registered under the laws of Nigeria, dedicated to raising funds for, and awarding scholarships to bright but financially handicapped young Nigerian females for tertiary level education in professional courses, and leadership and life skills development.
ASMAF was founded by Prof. (Mrs) Ajesola Majekodunmi in the realisation that it is essential to provide financial assistance to talented female students pursuing courses leading to professional careers like Accountancy, Architecture, Engineering, Law and Medicine to increase female representation in the professions, and in leadership. She herself was the first female undergraduate of the University of Lagos; she was registered as a medical student in 1962.
After a successful career in academics and upon retirement from Lagos University Teaching Hospital and College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Prof. Majekodunmi has set up ASMAF for the benefit of mankind in appreciation of the immense kindness shown to her by Almighty God and to affect, positively, successive generations of Nigerians.
